The @rts Studio Program focuses on visual arts creation and self-expression. Teens will communicate ideas and emotions while gaining technical skills in a variety of mediums. The @rts Studio Program prepares teens for careers in the arts. Teens will gain skills in design, drawing, painting, and multimedia techniques. They will experiment with a variety of mediums, such as charcoal, graphite pencils, oil pastels, acrylic painting, and others. The @rts Studio Program will teach teens how to apply the elements and principles of art to create dynamic compositions that will be showcased in our Studio @rts Community Gallery. Teens will be exposed to a safe space welcoming of all cultural backgrounds.

An introductory ceramics course which explores the vast possibilities of pottery and sculptural ceramics. Starting with basic manipulations of clay, the course will explore hand building, throwing, glazing techniques, and firing stages. Students will learn ceramic history and various cultural traditions to better understand the processes and techniques of a range of ceramics forms, as well as learning how to participate in a communal studio. Students will experience the value of getting messy and how mistakes can make magic to create their own unique sculptures and accessories.

Get ready to paint the town—literally! Our Street Art Program is your ticket to exploring Chicago’s vibrant street art scene, where spray cans meet history and creativity breaks all the rules. You’ll team up with a local Brighton Park business, turning their walls into your canvas while learning the ins and outs of the business side of street art. In this course, students explore 4D Interactive Art through 3D modeling, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR). Students will create 3D digital objects and transform them into immersive AR or VR experiences, learning how space, scale, and interaction shape digital art. No prior experience is required.

Slice of Hope is a hands-on baking program designed for teens to learn essential culinary skills, express creativity, and build confidence in the kitchen. Through guided lessons and collaborative projects, participants will whip up delicious treats while also gaining life skills, teamwork experience, and a sense of community. Perfect for young bakers ready to turn their passion into purpose—one slice at a time!

Teens enrolled in A&A sports will strive for excellence in a variety of sports, through a unique developmental and progressive system of fitness training. Through participation in the program, young athletes will be equipped with all the physical and mental skills necessary to achieve a life of fitness, health and sporting excellence.

Join us for this immersive and educational program that teaches students early career preparedness and phlebotomy training basics. Students learn sterile technique, proper lab collections, and patient identification. Students also learn how to take basic vital signs as well as how to collect a variety of specimens from patients. This program sets students up for future careers in healthcare and serves as a basic training that fast tracks them in their career as phlebotomist or as other types of healthcare professionals.

We train teens in the elements of bike-related employment. This includes bicycle mechanics and repair, advocacy and outreach, and safe cycling instruction. In addition, programs help develop their resume writing and personal finance skills as well as their business planning and entrepreneurship expertise. Teens will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of WTB operations, focusing on seven program areas, each with its specific responsibilities: 1. Bike Safety, Maintenance, & Repair: 2. Chitown Champions Adapt&Lead Coding Basics A fun and safe space to help teens develop their identity, identify their strengths and acknowledge aspects of their lives they’d like to continue to develop, while strengthening Leadership, Financial IQ and Beginner Coding.

Advanced Tumble Into Leadership A fun and safe space to help teens develop their identity, identify their strengths and acknowledge aspects of their lives they’d like to continue to develop, while strengthening Tumbling, Financial IQ & Safety Awareness.

In Advanced Culinary Arts teens learn new culinary skills and perfect their basic techniques. Teens receive training necessary to obtain jobs in the culinary hospitality industry or simply to prepare healthy and sustainable meals for themselves and their families. Teens also learn the arts and techniques of cake decorating, table setting, and catering for large groups. For their final presentation teens prepare a cake display and dinner for the community, their families, ASM staff members, and the media.

In this hands-on program, teens will explore the fundamentals of culinary arts, including sanitation and cleaning practices, understanding ingredient functions, proper use of kitchen tools, and accurate measurement techniques. Participants will develop essential skills in both baking and savory cooking, while also learning about packaging and food presentation. This program will also focus on the entrepreneurship aspect of the culinary field. Passionate about drawing and painting? Are you looking to push your skills to the next level? In this advanced level program, teens will create a number of portfolio-ready pieces to apply to the art school of your choice, as well as trying new and challenging mediums to explore and refine your own personal style! The Advanced Fashion & Design Program teaches teens how to bring their creative ideas to life by making clothing completely from scratch. Students learn essential skills like reading patterns, drafting their own designs, cutting and pinning fabric, operating sewing machines, and finishing garments with professional techniques. Beyond the basics, they also explore fashion styling, trend inspiration, and how to create pieces that reflect their personal aesthetic. This program gives young designers the confidence to build their own wardrobe, express their creativity, and develop real skills used in the fashion industry.

In this program, talented teen artists collaborate to create public art mosaics, which are often installed in city institutions or public parks. These mosaics not only enhance public spaces but also showcase the skills of our gifted apprentices. Projects like these offer meaningful opportunities to recognize the contributions of ASM supporters while continuing the tradition of exceptional mosaic work produced by ASM teens. Teens will continue efforts to finalize a mural for the new ASM Teen Center: Orleans Teen Center that will overlook the side of the Orleans street side for all the community to enjoy! Teens will be responsible for setting and re-setting the space. Ensuring to keep a safe and clean environment at all times. Teens will be responsible for table clean up and brooming the floor after each program session.

You will be engaged through building your artistic skills while building a genuine comradery through constant communication in meetings. Teens will team up with Google and local artist to create artwork inspired by your favorite Chicago places and bold geometric designs. Your pieces will be digitized and transformed into part of a giant kite installation displayed in the new Thompson Center Atrium. Next year, you’ll come back to see the finished artwork, meet the artist, and explore cool creative tools Google artists us. This art program is sure to give you a friendly and satisfying experience!

Welding at West Town Bikes. Teens will be given a hands-on introduction to welding and metal fabrication at West Town Bikes welding workshop. This program will give an overview to Gas Metal Arc Welding including MIG welding, materials handling and preparation, OSHA safety standards and more. Program curriculum has been adapted from the Jane Addams Resource Corporation's Welding Fast Track program and will direct teens interested in continuing welding education and certification to the JARC program and other resources.

Our program offers a unique blend of salsa and jazz music, exploring the rich cultural heritage and musical traditions of both styles. Students will learn the essential techniques, rhythms, and harmonies of salsa and jazz, while also discovering the connections and influences between these two vibrant genres. Through hands-on instruction, ensemble performances, and cultural exploration, students will develop their musical skills and gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse world of Latin jazz. Musical experience is preferable, but not required.

More than music — this is movement. The Afro-Caribbean Jazz Ensemble is where young musicians connect their talent to the powerful rhythms and stories of the Caribbean diaspora. Here, jazz meets bomba, plena, and salsa, and every beat carries history, pride, and possibility. Together, we’ll trace how the beats that shaped the Caribbean are now fueling a global sound, and how today’s artists are using music to reclaim identity, challenge norms, and move culture forward.

The program will help students/athletes gain an understanding of how a wellness lifestyle affects one’s health, fitness, and physical performance. The program will also help student athletes with assistance in receiving soccer scholarships.

Are you interested in enhancing your communication skills, or connecting with Deaf or hard of hearing friends, family, classmates, or other community members? This beginner-friendly American Sign Language (ASL) Training program will introduce teens to essential vocabulary, basic grammar, and facial expressions/body language used in ASL. Teens will also have opportunities to learn about the beauty and importance of Deaf culture.

For Northside Learning Center teens only! While exploring a variety of artistic styles and mediums, creativity is the focus in this program. Pairing theatre games used for communication and confidence building, with a space to learn new arts skills, this program will have something for everyone! This is a holistic, co-ed tennis program hosted in the Obama Center's Home Court gym, designed for teens to build fundamental skills, confidence, and leadership both on and off the court. Alongside focused tennis instruction, participants will take part in special workshops focused on exploring sports career paths, building leadership, and preparing for future professional success. This is a holistic, co-ed volleyball program hosted in the Obama Center Home Court gym, designed for teens to elevate their skills and confidence on the court. Teens will practice essential skills—serving, passing, setting, hitting—while strengthening teamwork and communication through dynamic drills and group challenges. Students will study improvisation, sketch comedy writing and stand-up comedy. Explore the fundamentals of improvisation, short form and scenic exercises. Students will learn brainstorming techniques for various styles of sketch comedy writing. They will learn how to craft stories from their own personal experiences and joke structure for a standup comedy or storytelling act. A final performance will showcase a lineup of a variety of works produced along with improvisation.

The ASM Teen Stipends Support Assistant provides frontline support to teen participants, parents/guardians, and instructors regarding stipend eligibility, payment status, and payroll-related inquiries. This role assists in delivering excellent customer service through multiple communication channels while gaining practical experience with payroll, program administration, and participant support systems. Essential Responsibilities • Respond to stipend and payment-related inquiries from teens, parents/guardians, and instructors through Zendesk (ticketing system), RingCentral (virtual phone system), and email communications. • Assist participants with questions regarding stipend eligibility requirements, attendance expectations, and payment timelines. • Learn and utilize Cityspan, the organization's program and participant database, to research and support inquiries related to: - Teen checklists and enrollment requirements - Program participation status - Attendance records and eligibility verification • Learn and utilize ADP Workforce Now to research and provide information related to: - Payment status and payment history - Direct deposit enrollment and updates - Payroll processing timelines - General stipend payment questions • Navigate and analyze Excel reports to verify payment status and support participant inquiries. • Assist participants with Wisely Paycard questions, including card enrollment, activation guidance, and common payment-related inquiries. • Research and document participant concerns, escalating issues as needed to appropriate staff members. • Maintain accurate records of participant interactions and resolutions within department systems. • Provide professional, courteous, and timely customer service while maintaining confidentiality of participant and payroll information. • Support special projects and administrative tasks assigned by the Teen Stipends team.

Culinary Arts is a student-driven cooking apprenticeship provided to expose teens to a home and commercial kitchen environment, the art of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation. Teens learn the leadership roles of kitchen managers, chef managers, and sanitation supervisors and have the opportunity to take on these roles throughout the program. Through instruction and practice, teens obtain the necessary skills to plan, prepare, cook, and present a full course luncheon or dinner.

Have you ever desired to study the Universe and immerse yourself in all things space? Share your interest with other teens and experience many aspects of urban astronomy, learning the night sky, viewing and discussing space themed films, conduct physics experiments, study NASA and crewed space travel/rocketry. You will know more about the mystery of Black Holes, examine the possibility of life in our solar system/cosmos and the robots that explore alien worlds. You will have the opportunity to observe the Moon, Sun and other celestial wonders by using telescopes and other scientific instruments. All applicants are required to submit a short essay on why you enjoy Astronomy in order to schedule an interview. Make a great impression, as hundreds of teens apply for the chance to explore the cosmos with us. The Fall 2022 ASM Astronomy Downtown term will be in-person. By the end of your session, you and your astro team family will be prepared to present and display newly gained astronomical knowledge in this very popular S.T.E.A.M based program at ASM. If you love space and astronomy, this is the program for you.

Would you like to become an electrical engineer? The Audio Electronics program introduces teens to electrical theory and practice. Apprentices learn basic electronics, basic soldering, metering skills, theory and practice of electrical audio concepts, and real-world repair. The curriculum teaches logic and practical workplace skills, and focuses on the successful completion of different projects.

Advanced electronics teens conceive and build their own studio mixing console from the ground up. Students are challenged to consider design concepts such as gain structure, impedance matching, equalizer design, summing mixers, proper power supply construction, and balanced outputs. Teens leave the program with an advanced understanding of the core concepts of electrical engineering theory and practice.

Audio engineering can give you a new perspective on sound! Almost like a sixth sense! Through ear-training and learning what audio is, teens will develop better communication and creative skills. Once knowing what sound is, and does, each teen will get the chance to create their own individual recordings/mixes to take home with them as a final product!

The Austin Grown program is an urban agriculture and food justice program where teens. receive hands on gardening skills, cooking demos, professional development workshops and team building exercises. They will also support Austin Grown's entrepreneurial efforts by helping create garden grown spices and teas to sell to the community.

Join Aztec Dance Chicago Kuauhtli program to learn about pre-Hispanic and contemporary expressions of Mexica-Aztec-Nahua culture by practicing dances, native ceremonial songs, pre-Hispanic musical rhythms, and cultural crafts and community building skills. Participate in field trips and workshops with local ceremonial dance groups and experts in Native cultures and Aztec ceremonial dance. In sharing skills gained, participants work together to plan and host community workshops and presentations. Cultural crafts, temazkal/sweat lodge and Nahuatl naming ceremonies offer participants an opportunity to connect more profoundly with indigenous traditions and rites of passage.

The Backstage Production is designed to introduce South Side Chicago youth to the fundamentals of theater production while giving them hands-on experience in audio and lighting design, sound engineering, and stage management.

Band Techniques is designed for aspiring teens who wish to gain experience in marching band. This curriculum is designed to prepare young leaders for teaching music and marching through the process of learning an entire marching show including music, body moves and marching fundamentals and techniques. This will expose these teens to technical exercises, warm up routines and performance charts that will challenge each individual and develop them during the program. Teens will learn how to collaborate, use team building skills and goal setting skills while learning to play a musical instrument. During the sessions since we will have a lot of new teens that never played before, we will teach a lot of traditional drum techniques. For the students who are not beginners we will do modern drum techniques. For the wind instrument players that are not beginners we will gave them experience on trying new instruments and focus on learning more music with an uptempo feel.

Band Techniques is designed for aspiring teens who wish to gain experience in marching band. Teens in the advanced group must have previous music experience. This curriculum is designed to prepare young leaders for marching band experience through the process of learning an entire show including music, body moves, and marching fundamentals and techniques. This will expose teens to technical exercises, warm-up routines, and performance charts that will challenge each individual and develop their musical skills during the program. BandWith Chicago Performing Arts After School Matters Program offers a dynamic dual experience in the performing arts, giving teens the chance to shine in choir, dance, drumline, or stage band. Whether you're a vocalist, a dancer, a drummer, or an instrumentalist, there's a place for you here! Teens will select and participate in two (2) activities that best fit their skills, talents, and interests: Session 1: Choir or Stage Band Session 2: Dance or Drumline Teens will set and achieve personal and group goals, prepare for exciting end-of-session performances, and be musically expressive and creatively challenged. They will also contribute to Chicago's rich cultural scene. Please note: Some activities, particularly dance and drumline, involve physical conditioning, movement, and moderate physical activity. Bikes @ Sullivan offers teens the opportunity to explore the bike industry. Together we ride bikes, fix bikes, learn about bikes, and work together to improve access to bicycles and bike repair within our communities. As a group we go on weekly bike field trips, and host "Youth Open Shop" at The Recyclery, a time for people age 11-18 to come by and get help with bike repair.

Bikes N’ Roses (BNR) is a youth-founded, youth-led bike collaborative and after school program in which teens learn to build and repair bikes while developing communication and entrepreneurial skills through interaction with real customers and helping run a business. BNR promotes biking in the community as a healthy, affordable form of transportation and offers youth a comprehensive bike curriculum, in-depth youth development opportunities, and connections to community and industry partners.

Put your bike knowledge and experience to work as an Outreach Assistant at West Town Bikes. Interns will assist with some of the many activities and operations that take place at West Town Bikes. This may include bike mechanics, shop maintenance, assisting program instruction, community planning, gardening and more! Outreach Assistants will be expected to document their work and often will be working individually, in pairs or small groups. Previous program experience with West Town Bikes is required.

In this assistantship, teens will support Resource Coordinator and Parent Coordinator with after school clubs and after school event set-up/clean-up as well as supporting school Admin with other administrative tasks as needed.

Brand BUILD engages young men and women in a unique program that teaches teens how to create a variety of products while also helping teens acquire the skills necessary to build their own business. In addition, instructors and youth facilitate group discussions on current and relevant events that effect local communities in order to engage all individuals in the group to promote personal and professional growth. If you like making things then Brand BUILD is a great program to explore your creativity!

Students will learn story development, scriptwriting, interview techniques, camera operation, lighting, audio, and editing while rotating through industry roles (producer, director, camera, audio, editor, on-air talent). The program is designed to build real, portfolio-ready work and end with a final showcase featuring completed media packages (news segment(s), PSA, and/or short documentary) produced in teams.

When doing production there are 3 phases you go through. Pre production, production, and post production. Here you will learn all 3 phases and the importance of planning (pre-production). Students will learn to create paperwork, camera shots and angles, lighting, microphone patterns and types, and editing. Our job is to prepare you for the production world and to think outside of the box. We also encourage you to use the art of production as your voice for social issues.

Building leather Bags & Shoes is our assignment. We will be designing and making a leather bag and a pair of leather sneakers. We will learn the basics of leather design, pattern making, cutting, assembly and finishing. We will select from a variety of skins and accessories to make leather bags. Once we’ve got the basics down, we will make custom design sneakers. In Our Sneaker Starter Project you will make a pair of leather sneaker style shoes in one of three - five styles, low-top, mid-top, or high-top or sandals. This intermediate-level project includes a pair of shoe insoles and outsoles, your custom pattern, and project instructions. Business Beyond the Game is a program created to shine light on the many jobs and careers within the sports industry. This program should bring awareness to the many possibilities "beyond the game".

* Provide homework help and academic mentoring for youth (most enrolled at CPS schools) who may not often receive the individualized attention they need. * Provide a safe space for youth to engage in positive behaviors and develop life skills. * Engage in activities designed to build self-esteem, encourage positive development, strengthen community, and provide opportunity for creativity. * Expose youth to positive, motivated role models. * Create a safe space where youth feel safe expressing socio-emotional issues. Spend this fall learning about how to take amazing photos and traveling to neighborhoods across the city! In this session, we will take three field trips to explore the city and learn more about the history of Chicago. Some of the neighborhoods we will have traveled to in previous sessions are Pilsen, Uptown, Hyde Park and Bridgeport. Though journaling, map drawing & exploring you will create a tour of your neighborhood and use photography to tell your story. Possible group projects include a video slideshow, website & blog work.

Teens who join the CHOICES Robotics program will be CHosing Opportunities to Investigate Careers in Engineering Sciences by creating custom robotic solutions in response to globally issued challenges. Working as a team, teens will learn basic skills necessary to design, build, and train a robot. In addition, teens can specialize in an area of personal interest. Options include (but are not limited to) physical and digital design, programming, electronics (data and power distribution), and fabrication (using hand, machine, and digital tools). Simultaneously, teens can learn or enhance skills in project management, critical thinking, team problem-solving, and public speaking. All teens will showcase those skills in official competitions.

CMAA is seeking part-time youth tutors to provide hands on support for CMAA’s Diverse Young Leaders after school program. Youth tutors will provide tutoring and homework help services as well as have individualized schedules and will only work 7 hours a week, two days from 4:00pm-6:30pm and one day from 4pm-6:00pm. There will be training provided. CMAA’s Diverse Young Leaders after school program serves Asian American, Black, African American, and Hispanic youth from low income immigrant and refugee families, focusing on K-8th grade. Candidates will be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be able to work with students both one-on-one and in small groups. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about and engage in various ethnic and low-income communities in the Chicagoland area, gain exposure to the nonprofit sector, and to contribute to a high-energy team dedicated to supporting Uptown’s local immigrant, refugee, and minority youth populations. Youth tutors will be responsible for: assisting students with homework; preparing lesson plans, worksheets, and additional classroom materials; supporting instructors in the classroom; occasionally planning extracurricular activities; and monitoring youth directly. Youth tutors will be providing one-on-one and group homework help over three shifts per week. Tutoring subjects include but are not limited to math, English/language arts (mainly reading, spelling, grammar, and essay writing for older students), science, and social studies. Youth tutors will be asked to build strong, positive relationships with CMAA’s youth clients and their families. Youth tutors may also be asked to complete other duties as assigned by CMAA's Program Manager of Youth Services.

Colored Girls are Cover Girls utilizes poetry, spoken word, theater, music and other forms of cultural expression as means to create change, impact lives, build relationships and stimulate growth among teenage girls of color. Teens learn to write creatively, passionately, powerfully and unashamedly and use their stories as valuable tools to educate their peers and communities on issues directly relating to inner-city teenage girls such as: violence, absent fathers, body image, adolescent sexual health and interpersonal communication. Our program genuinely believes that lives can be changed and relationships can be repaired through the art of spoken word.

Teens will be working with youth ages 5-13 enrolled in our afterschool programs. Teens will be responsible for supervision of youth and working with year-round staff to provide a safe and fun environment for our members. Teens will also be responsible for working in a team setting to better serve our young members. Teens will be asked to share ideas for games, crafts or any other activities with a focus on safe, inclusive and fun activities. Teens will be responsible for leading their group of youth through the activity they worked on. They will be responsible for gathering supplies needed, to instructing the youth and then executing their planned activity. In addition to working with youth, teens will get hands on career readiness skills as they will be working on time management, communication with various age groups, including but not limited to youth, peers, executive staff and year round staff, team building, conflict resolution, interview readiness and group work.

In Community Influenced Pop Art teens complete small assignments merging elements from their environment/community with traditional painting techniques. Assignments may include portraiture, color wheels, caricature, and collages and emphasize individual artistic and creative growth. At the conclusion of the program each teen will have an individual portfolio of vibrant contemporary pop art that is relevant to the community and will have worked together with the whole team to create a group mural.

Chicago Emerging Stars presents Community STARS: Youth Changemakers Lab, a 10-week youth-led leadership experience where teens build real-world skills by designing a community impact project from start to finish. Crowned in Motion Dance program is designed to prepare high school students for a professional career in dance and dance history. The program will transform students into versatile, self-directed professional performing artists. Teens will gain knowledge and skills in all styles of dance ranging from HBCU-style, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. Utilizing the elements of D.A.N.C.E (Dream, Achieve, Nourishment, Create, Elevate), coaches teach the technical components of motion, isolations, dance routines, and team culture.

The culinary program will focus on essential foundational skills such as kitchen safety and sanitation, knife cuts, spice and flavor development, and proper handling and preparation of chicken, fish, and steak. Students will also learn the basics of starches, sauces, plating, and kitchen professionalism. Each session will be structured around a demonstration, guided practice, and hands-on cooking lab, with teens rotating roles (prep, line cook, sanitation lead, and station organizer) to mirror a real kitchen environment. The program concludes with a final skills demonstration and showcase plate, helping teens build confidence and career readiness.

Join Culinary Arts and learn culinary skills and perfect the basic techniques of cooking and baking. Apprentices receive the foundational training necessary to obtain jobs in the culinary hospitality industry and develop skills that allow them to prepare healthy and sustainable meals for themselves and their families. The program also focuses on cake decorating, table setting, and catering for large groups. For their final presentation, the apprentices prepare a cake display and dinner for the community, family, ASM staff members, and the media.

Culinary Arts: Kitchen Fundamentals provides a start to culinary foundations and food identity to strengthen the youth’s understanding on making healthier choices. While learning the basics about cooking techniques and kitchen safety, students will explore the fundamental pillars of food education. Working through various recipes, they will reflect on the origin and relevance of different ingredients, how food impacts our health and environment, and the connections between food and culture. This program allows youth to hone skills such as time management, teamwork, and responsibility, and encourages young people to prepare meals and snacks for themselves, their family, and the community.

Sr. teens are given the opportunity to get certified as food service handler, which required by law in the state of Illinois. Teens showcase all they have learn throughout in the program by hosting dinner buffet for family, friends, and community members.

Teens will be given the opportunity to see what it takes to be successful in the growing industry of culinary arts. Teens will learn to prepare, shop, cook, and plate various meals. Teens will also demonstrate their understanding of the restaurant business by completing their own business model.

The focus will be on learning how to cook various dishes from different countries. We will learn how to make dishes from chilaquiles to sushi. The Solorio Debate ASM Program will offer teens the opportunity to immerse themselves in interscholastic academic policy debate. Teens will learn about how to debate and the rules of debate for competition. We will spend program time doing research on the topic and preparing arguments, practicing speaking extemporaneously, building community, conducting full length practice and demonstration debates and attending conference debate tournaments.

Led by the University of Chicago Arts + Public Life, this apprenticeship cultivates teens’ creativity, social development, and leadership, and inspires them to make a positive difference through careers in the arts. Teens work in teams to create a community-based design project that responds to a local need, build their project in the woodshop using hand tools and power tools, and support other local build projects.

Design.Build.Grow.Eat explores the connection between people and Nature, which is age old. Disconnection affects our individual and community health. So DBGE reconnects teens to opportunities to impact their local environment — growing, designing, cooking, even in our own homes. Teens learn about the process of farming and the concept of whole food - strengthening their knowledge of the environment and their ability to make a positive impact on it to create peace and produce! Teens gain technical skills in scale drawing, designing, identification of plant parts (and much more), while learning the ways food is sourced, and whether all food is local, especially in city centers (and other aspects of food justice). Ultimately, teens learn more about themselves through finding the origins of the foods that are special to their families, and we build community through sharing these with each other.

Teens in Digital Imagination explore various aspects of digital technology such as robotics, coding, video game design, photo/video/audio editing, drone flight, 3D printing, 3D modeling/CAD and website/graphics design. Teens take part in activities to develop skills in leadership, professionalism, constructive communication and digital presentation. Career portfolios include paper/video/QR code resumes, cover letters and mock interviews. Instructors provide hands-on learning experiences customized to prepare each teen to attain their career goals through career readiness and professionalism training and increased technical skills. Teens showcase what they learn through a final public presentation highlighting their experiences in the Digital Imagination program.

This summer photography class for teens introduces students to the fundamentals of digital photography through creative, hands-on projects. Participants will learn to use cameras, explore composition and lighting, edit photos with digital tools, and express their artistic voices through their imagery. The class encourages creativity, self-expression, and visual storytelling while building technical photography skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Digital Photography will inspire teens to explore photography, through challenging photo assignments and field trips to Chicago art museums and galleries. Apprentices in this program will develop photographic skills in order to investigate and respond to the world around them through their cameras. The program will incorporate a hybrid of analog and digital activities, learning photography fundamentals, camera mechanics, and editing techniques. Apprentices will respond to prompts and writing activities to explore their personal spaces and communities through portraiture, still-life studies, and street photography. The program will also include field trips, discussions, and guest artist talks to develop critical awareness of the photographic medium and gain knowledge about the Chicago photo community and the photo industry.

Divinity Dance Ensemble is an explorative dance program where teens learn about hip hop dance while also learning fundamentals of Ballet, Street Jazz, Afro- Caribbean modern to help cultivate a versatile dancer. In the program, teens explore their individual choreographic process and become comfortable creating their own works of art. Realizing teen participants are in adolescent stage in life, we go over life skills and career development to develop well rounded individuals who aren't just learning dance, but feel confident in the world after program completion. Teens learn and create choreography for final presentation that includes dance, visuals, and theatrics.

DJing and Music Production @ Lutz is a music program for teens interested in making their own original music AND learning the art and business of DJing. In the program, you learn the craft of production and composition through the practice of writing your own music, recording, and performing using modern technology. All styles are welcome!! Beatmakers, rappers, singers, music for film/gaming, rock, metal, classical, electronic, trap and dance music, anything! Collaboration with other music makers in the program is encouraged.  You will also learn the skills of DJing and how to get hired and paid.

Double Dutch Program Description The Ring of Hope Double Dutch Program provides Chicago teens with a fun, active, and supportive environment to build confidence, teamwork, leadership skills, and physical fitness through the sport of Double Dutch. Participants develop jump-rope skills, rhythm, coordination, endurance, and creative routines while also strengthening communication, discipline, and self-awareness. Teens practice individually and in teams, support one another, and have opportunities to lead warm-ups, create routines, and participate in showcases or community events. The program fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere where every teen feels welcomed, respected, and encouraged—regardless of skill level, background, or prior experience.  

The Drama and Musical Theater Program enables teens to explore the world of stage performance. Students develop performance and leadership skills in the areas of acting, singing, and dancing with additional opportunities for participation in sound, lighting, and stage crews. The program will culminate in a minimum of two and up to four performances for students, teachers, families, and the Brighton Park community.

Teens will be showcasing their exploration by merging digital and traditional media. Participants will learn fundamentals of digital drawing, graphic design practices, printmaking, and scientific illustration techniques by drawing from the museum's collection. Experimental methods and research will be encouraged throughout the duration of the program. Teens will have the chance to speak with local Chicago Artists, Scientists, Museum Professionals, and Scientific Illustrators about their career paths. Art experience is encouraged but not required.

Drawn to Positivity will be drawing with positive affirmations. Explore sketching and drawing techniques with positive words and phrases and how to use these skills for self care and confidence.

The program will introduce teens to foundational electrical theory and safety, hands-on circuit building, conduit bending and installation, and residential/commercial wiring. In addition, we’ll weave in HVAC fundamentals aligned to our lab ,thermostat wiring and controls, basic components and safety, and entry-level diagnostics, so teens can see how electrical skills transfer directly into HVAC and building systems

This workshop aims to introduce participants to machine embroidery and its use in education. Participants will learn how to create simple embroidery designs and understand the design workflow. At the end of the workshop, participants will have created at least on embroidery design and one educational scenario of use.

With hands-on experience in product development ranging from creating lip balms to crafting candles and more. This program empowers you to turn your ideas into reality while exploring basic graphic design skills to enhance your branding and help bring your vision to life, giving you the tools to grow your ambitions in any direction you choose.

Become a “Environmental Justice Changemaker” and take control of your community’s environment. Learn about how to use your power as a group of informed and concerned citizens to bring about environmental justice. You will test the soil, air, and water quality in your community and learn about how different players and laws can impact the quality of your community’s environment. You will analyze how small groups of informed and concerned citizens have made change in the past. With this knowledge, you will raise awareness about environmental issues and how we can be better caretakers of the environment. You will work with in a small group based on which environmental concern you feel is most pressing and take action to bring about change. This action take any form that your group decides, such as an art installment, an online video, a song, a letter campaign to elected officials, a community clean up etc.

The Experimental Comics program will introduce teens to the expansive possibilities of creating sequential art with original characters. Teens will learn the process of planning and executing a comic; how to use a variety of materials like brush-tip liner pens, markers, color pencils, and graphite; and practice observational drawing. It's "experimental" because we'll try many different ways of making images and narratives - there are no limits to the stories and characters we'll create. This isn't a typical superhero or manga art program!

This program will focus on the stages of a documentary movie production, from recording footage with different video formats and devices, to editing and exporting the final movie in post production. Learn what it takes to share your perspective through filmmaking.

In the Gately Teen Leadership Council, teens engage in leadership development workshops, exchange ideas, plan events, develop projects. Teen Ambassadors also represent the teen voice and provides valuable input to ASM leadership that is used to make decisions about programming and other elements that impact teen issues and interests.

In Nail Club at Curie teens will learn the process of designing and painting acrylic nails, as well as the anatomy of a nail. Teens will learn what is good and bad for nails. Teens will also learn the business side of nail cosmetology and how they can turn the hobby into a career.

Humans have always been visual creatures. So how do we use graphic design to make a visual impact, spread awareness, or make a profound impression? You’ll get the chance to use your creative problem-solving skills to develop a new and improved design from your favorite album cover, magazine cover, movie poster, etc. You’ll learn the fundamentals of design and how to communicate your choices effectively.

Team Ground Breakers will plant a variety of fruit and vegetable seeds in above ground containers. Then they will study the growth of their seeds through the plant development process.

Our program focuses on exposing ASM students to the art of play writing. Students will learn how to create, develop, and structure musical and play writing skills, using narration, song, dance and theory of play writing. Students will also learn how to advise on costume design and makeup. All plays will be performed in front of a live audience. Students will learn communication, collaboration, leadership, dependability and teamworking skills. Overall, I hope to achieve students enhancing their talents and becoming well-rounded students.

This is an intensive Training for teens who are interested in becoming professional singers for choral and/or solo performance. Program will include sight-reading/sight-singing, basic piano skills (retrieval & research). Teens will understand vocal & music text, plus have training on how to conduct using a music score. Will analyze various genres of music. A final performance will be expected from each teen.

The South Shore Drill Team (SSDT) is a performing arts group that does dance and precision-drilling. Teens have opportunities to travel and perform as motivators - developing leadership skills and learning to channel their energy, creativity, and drive into positive activities. SSDT strives to instill responsibility, teamwork, and self-discipline by utilizing a system that provides youth with additional responsibilities and offers more voice in activities as they mature and demonstrate their ability to lead. The Huskies Girls Basketball Training Camp is designed for students to learn not only critical skills in basketball, but to also learn the many jobs and opportunities that surround basketball, which include: coaching, refereeing, clock management, trainer and many other critical positions. At the conclusion of the program, students have the skills and understanding of running their own basketball camp and basketball program. This program will be enhanced with guest speakers and coaches, and field trips that develop students' perspective on basketball management and connect teens to the business community.

Increase The Peace is a program that will teach teens the basics in community organizing. By the end of the program students will have conducted 3 digital or independent campaigns either on community safety, mutual aid, or hosting virtual information sessions on community issues. The young leaders will also have virtual power meetings with elected officials. The conversation will depend on what issues are most important to the students

Kids Eat Free is a youth journalism and storytelling program where students learn scribing, content creation, and the art of capturing meaningful stories. Through hands-on training, mentoring, and enrichment activities, participants develop skills in journalism, content curation, and live podcasting. Each week, students visit a partnering senior community to interview elders, gather their stories, and transform them into polished narratives and podcast segments to be shared across various media platforms. Learn How to Code - The fun way! Teens design a website using html, css and we will also use a free open source tool. Computer skills are obtained along with the confidence to use them. Teens will also practice public speaking and be conducting mock interviews. This will help prepared them for job interviews and learn what a real interview entails. The importance of soft skills in the profession is also vital and will discuss and practice this as well. These lessons are designed to to help the teens of today acquire the necessary skills for the future.

Les Enfants Dance Program integrates song and dance taught through cultural context. Our goal is to empower teens through exposure to dance as an art form, professional opportunity and tool of expression. Les Enfants’ objectives are to introduce teens to a variety of dance styles, foster artistic growth of personal and professional discipline through dance. Teens are introduced to ballet and modern for classical training. To fulfill our mission and title, teens learn traditional African, Caribbean and Latin dances. We often remind ourselves that the race is not for the swift, but to those who endure till the end.

Let’s Talk About Music (LTAM) is an engaging virtual class set in a format that centers interactive conversations around various topics pertaining to music, music technology, and music culture. Participants learn and talk about musical concepts while also sharing unique experiences that add to the fabric of the conversations. The class seeks to connect students and instructors alike through commonalities in music culture while still keeping the environment educational and impactful.

Life skills are those skills that are necessary or desirable for full participation in everyday life. Students that require life skills instruction are affected by a large range of disabilities including an intellectual disability, autism, or other impairments. Despite the type of disability, individuals with a disability often lack the required skills to take care of themselves to the greatest extent possible. The most mundane of tasks that people without disabilities do daily without a thought such as wash dishes, hygiene routines, meal preparation, dressing, social awareness etc. are important skills that need to be taught and developed in a person with a disability. Life skills practice affords student the chance to foster independence, become active, contributing members of their household and society and largely impacts post-secondary success. Each semester, board members deep dive into a chosen topic and conservation project. Then, they share their work with their peers and the general public. Lincoln Park Zoo staff provide guidance and support, but decisions are led by board members, who elect their own leadership structure and determine the details of each project. In fall 2026, the Conservation Ambassadors Board will focus on climate resilience and activism and plan programming to support a climate-friendly future in the city of Chicago. In this program we will focus on learning different types of sculpture and exploring all the possibilities of materials. Our projects include making 3D sculptures, recycled material spheres, cardboard armatures, mobiles, origami, and self-expressive sculptures. Students will have time to brainstorm their ideas by engaging with different materials, methods, and techniques. After each project is done, students will display their works and discuss in the class in order to share their ideas and receive feedback from other students.

This Mariachi Ensemble Apprenticeship provides a positive experience for teens who want to be part of a performing arts group. This group consists of teens with various levels of musical experience. This program allows teens to work together and learn about mariachi performance, history, culture, and tradition. The program teaches teens the music theory; instrument use, tuning, and maintenance; history of Mexico and Mariachi music; and the performance of Mariachi repertoire. All teens participate in a final performance as a Mariachi Ensemble.

Teens who join the Mariachi Ensemble Apprenticeship learn about mariachi performance, history, culture, and tradition and work together to perform as a cohesive Mariachi Ensemble. The group consists of teens with various levels of musical experience, which requires an environment of peer mentorship, open communication, and group encouragement. Learn various techniques from martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Taekwondo in a safe, supportive environment. You will build physical fitness, improve mental focus, and develop self-defense skills, while fostering respect, teamwork, and personal growth. Whether you're a beginner or have previous martial arts experience, this program offers a fun and empowering way to stay active after school.

This program is designed to introduce teens to martial arts in a fun and safe environment. The MMA program consists of alternating training days of Boxing, Muay Thai, Grappling (Wrestling/Jiu Jitsu/Judo), and Kickboxing instruction. Teens develop stand-up striking skills, ground technique, and an overall increased fitness level. Teens also learn self management skills, discipline, listening, and demonstrating cooperation and respect towards others.

Students are taught how to use jewelry making tools which they use to create small sculptures, jewelry, picture frames, garden markers, clocks and other items. Students start out with sheets of copper and brass then their original ideas are transferred to the metal which they cut out with a jewelry saw, file and sand edges, etch designs and depending on the project they may have to rivet their pieces together or use other cold connections to connect pieces. The final steps are polishing or applying a patina and sealing the metal. Students learn the art of metalsmithing ,they learn how to work as a team on collaborative projects and also learn time management skills.

This program goes beyond the beat—using rap and hip-hop to help teens express themselves, build confidence, and learn how the music industry really works. Participants write, record, perform, and collaborate while developing their own sound, sharpening life skills, and discovering creative career paths beyond just being an artist.

In this internship, interns will learn about identities within the PACHS community to understand the importance of diversity, consider power as a tool for justice, and develop action plans to enact change. Interns will meet on-site at PACHS to discuss assets, challenges, and areas of growth in order to build their projects. Areas of work include parents engagement, prosing school policies, and developing students activities for the 2026-27 school year.

Peer2Peer STEM Outreach Assistantship/Internship will give teens the opportunity to learn inquiry-based, hands-on STEM activities to ignite their interest in science. In Podcast Tech: Power Your Story learn how to use digital audio and web-based technology to produce your own podcast; a collection of short real-life stories and interviews that express your views and increase your knowledge of community, culture and the issues that matter most to you. Work with a team to choose story ideas and themes, use professional audio equipment to record them and then edit the finished product and add music so it is ready to publish online. By the end of the program, you be able listen to and share episodes of the podcast you helped to create using social media.

This internship will introduce teens to jobs working with youth in the nonprofit and immigration sectors. One day per week, interns will serve as assistants to RefugeeOne's After School Program for refugee students ages 5-12 -- leading games and enrichment activities, tutoring youth, and serving as a positive role model for program participants. Two days per week, interns will participate in professional development and improve office workplace skills in digital literacy, communication, and leadership. This internship is geared towards newcomer teens with an interest in working with youth and/or in social services. Priority given to teens who speak one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Malay, Pashto, Rohingya, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya, or Ukrainian.

Rhythm & Raíces: Bomba Performance Arts Program with La Escuelita Bombera de Corazón is a 10-week cultural arts experience that invites youth to explore the vibrant traditions of Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba. Through dynamic sessions in drumming, dance, and song, youth deepen their connection to cultural roots, develop artistic skills, and build community. The program concludes with a showcase, celebrating their growth and what they've learned.

Students will work together as a team to use the Engineering Design process to design and create a robot as a team. Students will also develop coding and process control skills by programming the robots to operate with a combination of autonomous and driver controlled programming. The team will use the completed robot to compete in the current season of FIRST Tech Challenge.

South Shore Chefs provides real world experiences for teens interested in food service or hospitality related education and careers. Teens will work on basic culinary skills and techniques and more experienced teens will have the opportunity to be assigned a lead chef position. Throughout the program teens will develop their own original recipes which will be included in their very own recipe book. Some of these recipes will be showcased in a closing banquet at the end of the program session for teen's family and members of the community.

Chicago Training Center is a free rowing program in Bridgeport and Back of the Yards. You will learn how to row on the Chicago River in boats with other teens and will work out on rowing machines. Rowing is a work sport, requiring athletes to push themselves mentally and physically. You will be taught rowing safety and technique. By teaching students to apply engineering, coding, and scientific analysis to real-world challenges, the program empowers them to become active change agents in their communities.

STEM in Health Sciences @ Crane engages youth in science activities and projects with applications in healthcare. The program is themed under six subdivisions of healthcare including but not limited to Medicine, Engineering, Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing and Computer Science/Robotics. We also focus on Diseases, Diagnosis, causes and treatment using available technologies. As an online program, we use simulation to bring to light the learnings and activities, so they make sense and inspire our teens. Some examples of specific activities include EKG check, preparation of aspirin and flagrance, model of infectious disease spread, and disease and concept simulations. Participants listen to invited guest healthcare career professionals who visit to present their Day in the Life of their careers. Our teens have the opportunity to ask questions and their experiences and how to be successful in these careers. The program includes games that foster collaboration and increase learning opportunities. Overall, this program advances the scientific, technical, reading and writing skills of teens by engaging them with small group projects in the STEM content area. "The TechKno Academy [Advanced] Apprenticeship allows participants to explore careers in Film Sound Design and Music Production. An interest in Music, Audio and Film Post-production is essential. Teens who are talented singer-song writers, spoken word artists and music performers are also welcome. Participation in this program will include a visit to a professional recording studio and interaction with professional guest instructors who are currently in the music and film industries. Web based music production resources will be explored, as well as recording sound effects for use in film and music. Participants will learn file management and workflow best practices working in Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. These learned skills will help establish a path towards Sound Design, Film Sound Editing and Music Production." 

(Get Certified in Mental Health) Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) is a national certification program created by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that creates a safe community for youth to learn about and discuss mental health. Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) teaches high school aged youth how to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance abuse in themselves and their peers.

Explore nature in the city, participate in hands-on scientific investigations, and learn about career paths in ecology, environmental science, and conservation! Participants in the Teenagers Exploring and Explaining Nature and Science (TEENS) program conduct urban ecology and environmental science investigations, study the nature found in our city's parks, neighborhoods, and forest preserves, and participate in habitat restoration and other ecological stewardship activities. Teens contribute data to existing local, regional and global research projects and work in teams to develop their own research questions to investigate. Program participants learn how to use mobile devices to collect data in the field and create digital maps and other data visualizations.

A creative hands on program that introduces students to architecture, interior design, and the fundamentals of the built environment. Through interactive design challenges, sketching, model making, space planning, material exploration, and collaborative group projects, students learn how thoughtful design shapes the way people live, work, and interact with spaces. Led by an architectural designer, the program incorporates real-world case studies, an architecture firm tour, and a final team design project where students develop and present their own architectural and interior design concepts.

The Business of Music introduces a set of skills to teens that are essential in a working environment, thus providing the potential for employment. Teens learn music production and the fundamental business aspects of the music industry; get hands-on experience learning how to use recording equipment; learn how to incorporate music to stories, song writing, and script development; and receive in-depth vocal training and help with other professional performance techniques. Teens also develop critical skills such as teamwork, communications, critical thinking/problem solving and conflict resolution as they create a professional culminating event and student-produced product. This is an advanced music program. Students who play musical instruments should bring them to class. This program is performance heavy.

The Butterfly Club is a group that offers mentorship to teens between the ages of 14 and up. The Butterfly Club facilitates peace circles centered around topics such as restorative justice, etiquette, women's health, communication, relationship building, planning for the future, etc.

The DuSable Museum's Educators of the Future program is teaching a new generation of history makers. The Fall 2025 session will focus on the core concepts of unity and collaboration in community organizations and historical movements. Through the exploration of the museum's exhibits and programs teens will learn the craft of storytelling, and will develop public speaking, research, writing, and tour guide skills.  The experiences are designed to strengthen leadership and communication skills, build confidence, and foster an appreciation of learning and researching.  

The HEART Project is an innovative mentorship program dedicated to healing and improving the mental health and empowerment of youth through the arts. The HEART Project not only creates a safe space for youth to connect with a mentor, but also cultivates confidence towards their own healing and personal goals. Our mentors will meet with at-risk youth and family members to work on art projects, providing a dedicated time and space for youth to share their aspirations, needs, and personal challenges. Mentors will collaborate with youth, teaching them practical skills needed to complete their creative projects. Using our innovative curriculum, we will provide a space for youth to talk, connect with their mentors, and build the Beloved Community through the development of their own Healing Heart.

Flex Your Future – College and Career Readiness is a structured, student-centered development program designed to equip high school students (grades 9–12) with the clarity, skills, and confidence needed to transition successfully into college, trade programs, the workforce, military service, or entrepreneurship. Developed by TrustInEd, this comprehensive curriculum guides students through intentional phases of self-discovery, career exploration, professional development, financial literacy, and long-term planning. The program moves beyond basic career awareness by helping students build a personalized and actionable postsecondary plan. Participants engage in activities that strengthen career clarity, resume development, interview skills, networking strategies, workplace professionalism, leadership growth, and financial decision-making. Students also learn practical skills related to budgeting, financial aid awareness, credit management, and wealth-building principles. Throughout the program, students develop a structured Career Portfolio that includes: Career research and pathway planning Resume and personal brand development Postsecondary education and training plan Financial strategy and budgeting awareness Professional growth and leadership reflection

Tumbling into Fitness introduces teens to tumbling skills that include conditioning and flexibility exercises and strength training. Teens also study nutrition and learn to create healthy meal plans for themselves and their families. Teens work together to plan and execute a "Family Fitness Night" as a culmination of all they learn - a night of games and health exhibits for their friends and families.

Teens in United Voices create, develop and produce all original performance through collaboration. Whether dance, acting, poetry, or song, teens are exposed to careers in artistic performance and build the skills necessary to access them. By the end of the program, teens prepare and present a culmination of all their small-group performances and visual artwork in a final production at a professional venue.

Teens develop self-confidence and skills that last a lifetime through music, through group and individual piano, guitar, and voice instruction. Teens gain a strong foundation of music theory, technique, and performance, while feeling connected to the larger arts community, learning songs and playing music with new friends!

Join us this fall to learn how to grow vegetables, culinary herbs, edible flowers, goats and chickens at Urban Growers Collective’s South Chicago Farm! This farm is Urban Growers Collective’s largest site, and serves as a premier example of urban agriculture in Chicago. Teens in this program will specialize in maintenance of the large-scale production farm, cultivation of their own community garden plot, and will research the culinary and medicinal uses of herbs growing on the farm to create a signature added-value item from the dried botanicals. In addition to farming and product development, teens will take part in nutrition, science, food justice, and art activities. Have fun, meet new people, increase food access and make your city more safe and beautiful this fall! While vaccinations are not required for participation in this program, they are HIGHLY encouraged for full participation in this program’s in-person activities.

Taproots’ “Urban Sons Speak Life” program utilizes poetry, spoken word, theater, music and other forms of cultural expression as means to create change, impact lives, build relationships and stimulate growth among urban teenage males of color. Our program equips male teens with knowledge and skills that empower them to use creative writing and expression as vehicles to release frustration and aggression, manage anger, resolve conflicts, build trust, and increase self-esteem and self-confidence. The Urban Vision Multimedia Arts Program opens teens eyes to the vast and inspiring world of digital photography, videography, and graphic design. In this program teens learn to see and creatively document the world around them, while identifying and incorporating key elements of design, color & composition. Teens have the opportunity to showcase their work by developing portfolios along with having their work published.

From operating video cameras to script writing to editing, teen apprentices learn all of the essentials for making their own short movies. The program begins with technical workshops on how to make their films look professional and slick. Apprentices then participate in brainstorming sessions where they pitch their own ideas for short films. Once in production, teens write scripts, act, shoot, direct, and then edit their ideas into finished films.

Step into the world of 3D animation with Blender! In this course, students will learn to model, texture, and animate digital scenes, creating polished 3D-rendered animations from scratch. No experience needed! If you love animation, this program is for you.

Visionaries is a multimedia apprenticeship that empowers teens to make their own media that documents and reflects their world. Apprentices learn the fundamental aspects of photography, documentary video or graphic design and learn the basics of design software such as Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. By applying the skills they learn in the program, teens are able to tell stories and address issues that are important to them. During a final presentation teens showcase their work to friends, family, and the community.

Volleyball at Vittum Park is an instructional activity that will teach teens the basic skills in serving, bumping and passing the ball through drills and team competition. Teens are trained to be volleyball athletes that may have the opportunity to compete with their peers at area and regional games and competitions.

In this Advanced Apprenticeship program, teens learn the skill of making original artwork out of stained glass. Apprentices’ work in small groups to design and create original artwork pieces that will be displayed and retailed in the Gallery37™ retail store downtown. Each session, apprentices’ are expected to create 1 collaborative stained glass artwork and 3 individual stained glass artworks for retail.

Teens immerse themselves into the world of event management while learning about Hip Hop culture, organizing community events and planning for the Annual We Are Hip Hop Youth Festival. Projects positively promote Hip Hop culture and its elements while cultivating teens into community leaders. Through participation, teens learn collaboration, how to organize events, and critical thinking while addressing controversial issues directly affecting them. Teens grasp positive social media skills, as well as leadership and professional development

An introduction to all things welding, this program will focus on the hands-on art of joining metal. Design and create your own metal projects, meet industry experts and learn about careers in welding, and practice techniques behind multiple different types of welding. No experience is needed - this is a very hands on program that includes bright lights, loud noises and strong safety procedures.
